NovAtel has released SPAN3.042 firmware for the OEMV series.  This update includes:

• Latest OmniSTAR HP 4.28 Library
• Kinematic Velocity Threshold Change: SPAN users now need to move at 1.15 meters per second (approximately 4 kilometers per hour) with a roll angle of less than 10 degrees for kinematic alignment initialization.

This update requires an authorization code in order to install.  Please contact us to request auth code(s) for your receiver(s).

Firmware version 2.312s19 has been released for the Propak-LB, Propak-LBplus, and certain OEM4/Omnistar capable receivers.  This new firmware includes the latest OmniSTAR VBS (2.10) and HP (4.28) libraries.  This affects users currently using the OmniSTAR satellite based corrections service.

Users will need to upgrade their GNSS receivers to this version in order to keep receiving VBS, XP, HP corrections.  The broadcast format will change in the coming months.  Please download version 2.312s19 using the link below.  View the official NovAtel announcement (PDF).

NovAtel has released firmware version 3.50 for the OEMV Series GPS receivers.  This version introduces NovAtel’s RT-2 L1TE as well as the ALIGN feature.  Version 3.50 includes the latest OmniSTAR HP library v4.28 and the GGA message is now available before a complete almanac is received.  A complete list of changes are shown below.

Firmware version 3.040 for OEMV SPAN (Sychronized Position Attitude and Navigation) GPS receivers is now available for download.  This firmware release is available at no charge to all OEMV SPAN customers.

NovAtel is announcing changes to the update policy for the Waypoint Products Group™. One year of Post-Contract Support (PCS), including software updates, is included in the price of new licenses and software upgrades for all Waypoint software products. Customers may also purchase software updates, which will extend the PCS subscription period for an additional year. Only customers within a current PCS period are eligible for new software features and patches. Technical Support online or by phone is reserved for customers within a PCS period. NovAtel Inc has announced the End Of Life (EOL) for SuperStar-II products. This includes the SuperStar-II Smart Antennas. A complete list of discontinued items is shown below. These products will be available for order until July 31 2008 with shipments scheduled for no later than June 30 2009. Please be aware that the North America East and West frequencies for OmniSTAR corrections will change June 2 2008.  North America Central will change on August 2 2008.

Anyone not using the autoscan feature on the newer receivers (OEMV Series) will have to manually change the frequency setting on their receivers.  This change only affects North America frequencies. (continue reading this entry…)

NovAtel has released firmware version 3.302 for the OEMV Series of GPS receivers. This version has a fix to resolve a RTK crash when PRN 32 is used as the reference (highest in the sky) reference.

NovAtel has announced the release of GrafNav/GrafNet™ version 8.10. GrafNav/GrafNet™ is a powerful GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) post-processing software that can process raw data from most GPS receivers. Release version 8.10 includes several improvement and features such as support for NovAtel’s proprietary on-the-fly (OTF) AdVance™ RTK (ARTK) engine, HTML output for reports, and improved Google Earth™ exporting. NovAtel’s CDU program has been recently updated and improved. This Graphical User Interface (GUI) is for use with NovAtel’s OEM4 and OEMV GPS receivers. Release version 3.3.03 has been updated for OEMV 3.301 firmware enhancements and is now compatible with the Microsoft Vista operating system.

NovAtel’s OEMV Series of GPS receivers have a firmware update available for download. Version 3.301 introduces 50Hz raw measurement capability and Position Velocity and Timing (PVT) output, improved accuracy for SBAS and CDGPS positioning, and improvements to Network RTK.

OmniSTAR will start broadcasting VBS2 corrections in the first quarter of 2008. The older VBS corrections will cease to be transmitted. Older firmware versions may not be able to accept the newer VBS2 information. It is highly recommended that users of the OmniSTAR VBS service check the firmware version of their NovAtel GPS receivers and/or OmniSTAR 3000 Series receivers.

The NovAtel GPS receivers can be upgraded easily by downloading the firmware from NovAtel using the link(s) shown below. The OmniSTAR 3000 Series receivers will need to be sent in for the firmware upgrade.
