April 27th, 2010: Waypoint Inertial Explorer and GrafNav/GrafNet 8.30

Waypoint’s Inertial Explorer and GrafNav/GrafNet version 8.30 is now available. For customers with current PCS (Post Contract Support) period. Just contact SLAinc and provide your four digit hardware/license key for upgrade information. This number can be located on your USB or parallel port key.

February 1st, 2010: End of Life for Waypoint Parallel Keys

NovAtel Inc and Waypoint Products Group has announced the End of Life for Waypoint’s parallel port keys. These products include GrafNav/GrafNet, Inertial Explorer, and RTKNav. The software packages will continue to be available with the USB key;  however, new purchases and future software updates will not support the parallel port type keys.

Customers are encouraged to migrate to a USB type key through the Waypoint Key Exchange program.  Those customers within their software’s PCS (Post Contractual Support) period are eligible for free USB key exchange. This will require the return of the old parallel port key(s).

FreeWave Technologies has released the latest version of the Tool Suite, version 2.2.  This new version includes support for the FGRplus (diagnostics), HTplus (diagnostics), and 1.3 GHz Series of wireless radios.  There are improvements to the configuration and diagnostics sections as well as added functionality.

FreeWave’s EZ Config has recently been replaced with the new Tool Suite.  FreeWave’s Tool Suite is a Graphical User Interface (GIU) that allows easy configuration, programming, and troubleshooting of your FreeWave wireless radios.  This free software utility is a great alternative to using a terminal program such as HyperTerminal for setting up your radios.  It allows for quick setup of several telemetry radios either by direct connection or over a radio network.

May 7th, 2009: Waypoint GrafNav and Inertial Explorer 8.20

GrafNav/GrafNet™ and Inertial Explorer™ high-precision GNSS software packages have been upgraded to version 8.20.  Several improvements and features have been added in this new version such as the new Project Wizard, EGM2008 geoid is now available, and there is improved user/manufacturer files for Windows Vista operation.

A smaller version of the CDU Graphical User Interface (GUI) has been released for smartphones and Pocket PC. It is being called Mobile CDU and has many features that will enable users to view information about their NovAtel receiver. Currently the program is only able to connect via Bluetooth enabled device and the DL-V3.

March 9th, 2009: OmniSTAR Frequency Change for Africa / Europe

The current EASAT (1535.152500) broadcast will be replaced by the AFSAT (1535.080000) beam.  This will happen on March 31 2009.  This applies to those in the North Africa and Europe locations currently using EASAT.  Those persons in other locations do not need to make any changes.

Users of the EASAT broadcast need to change their frequency to the AFSAT beam.  This can be done using the ASSIGNLBAND command.

March 6th, 2009: NovAtel Flexpak Series Discontinued

The FlexPak Series of GNSS receivers have officially been discontinued.  Orders will continue to be taken through August 31 2009.  Orders can be scheduled for delivery no later than Feb 28 2010.  This affects all GPS receivers that start with FlexPak-V1, FlexPak-V2, DK-FlexPak-V1, DK-Flexpak-V2.  The FlexPak-SSII have already been discontinuedContact SLA Inc for pricing and purchase info.

NovAtel is announcing changes to the update policy for the Waypoint Products Group™. One year of Post-Contract Support (PCS), including software updates, is included in the price of new licenses and software upgrades for all Waypoint software products. Customers may also purchase software updates, which will extend the PCS subscription period for an additional year. Only customers within a current PCS period are eligible for new software features and patches. Technical Support online or by phone is reserved for customers within a PCS period. Please be aware that the North America East and West frequencies for OmniSTAR corrections will change June 2 2008.  North America Central will change on August 2 2008.

Anyone not using the autoscan feature on the newer receivers (OEMV Series) will have to manually change the frequency setting on their receivers.  This change only affects North America frequencies. (continue reading this entry…)
